Events and Workshops
- Organizer and Co-teacher of the masters composition seminar segment “Composing Philosophy” with composer Thomas Metcalf. Masters students in composition studied musical works that respond to philosophical texts, composed by Pascal Dusapin, Cornelius Cardew, and Kate Soper. Students then composed new, short works on philosophical texts of their choice (ultimately inspired by Confucius, Henry David Thoreau, and Noam Chomsky) (Hilary Term, 2022).
- Discussion-Concert “Composing Philosophy: Songs on Poems of Friedrich Nietzsche,” as part of the Project “Composing Philosophy” at the University of Oxford, May 29, 2022. The concert featured young artists from Oxford Lieder singing settings of Nietzsche by Dora Pejačević, Wolfgang Rihm, and Gustav Mahler, followed by a discussion of Nietzsche’s philosophy and poetry scheduled to feature myself and Associate Professor of German David Groiser (Oxford University).
